Where we stand

We represent the musicians making the music.
Not the platforms automating it.

Songwriters, producers, performers, and bands whose music starts with them. The question is whether the music is yours.

01 · The Firm

Lawyers who
play.

Allen.James LLP is a two-partner firm. Andrew in San Diego, Ted in Westchester. We met in law school in a band, and we have been friends across two coasts and two decades of practice.

We recorded our first album as Buzz Awhile in 2026 — three months at Outraged Studios and Arnow Studios in New York. It is not the firm's pitch. It is just a thing we made.

Edward James Kuch
in New York
NY · NJ · DC
Edward ("Ted") has spent more than 20 years in practice, including senior roles at a Big Four firm and at boutique advisory firms in New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. He has championed the cause of artistic freedom since 2006. He plays guitar, whistles, and sings, and co-wrote Buzz Awhile's maiden album. Ted lives in Westchester County, New York with his wife and two young sons.
Andrew Allen Moher
in California
CA · IL · NY
Andrew has assisted his clients with contract issues and litigation for nearly 20 years, and has been a passionate advocate for musicians' rights since opening his own practice in 2010. Originally from Chicago and a graduate of the University of Michigan, he plays guitar, piano, and dobro, and co-wrote the songs on Buzz Awhile's 2026 debut. Andrew lives in San Diego with his wife and daughter.
03 · The Work

Copyright, splits, royalties, contracts,
and the questions AI is asking of all of them.

We work on the legal architecture of a music career — what you own, what you are owed, what you have signed, and what is being done with your voice when you are not in the room.

Our diagnostic — the Sound Check — is the door. A flat fee, a clear report, fixed-price quotes for any fixes you need. No retainer.
